Welcome!

Welcome to the Bexley Sub-Aqua Club website. We are an affiliated diving branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) and our aims are to promote the sport of Scuba Diving through training and participation with an emphasis on safety and enjoyment for all. BSAC or to be precise the British Sub-Aqua Club, is the worlds largest Scuba Diving club with over 1500 branches and 38,000 members around the globe. BSAC is the governing body of Scuba Diving in the UK and was originally formed in 1953. Since 1974 our patron has been HRH Prince Charles.

Diving

We have a varied dive itinery with much of our diving based at home in UK waters. This can be anything from a day trip to Brighton, a weekend to Weymouth or a week long holiday to Wales or Scotland. We sometimes also plan further afield to warmer climes such as the South China Sea or Red Sea where some of the best clear water diving anywhere in the world can be enjoyed, all with members of Bexley 982. Planned dive trips and holidays are advertised on the dive diary.

Social

Being part of the club is like being part of a big family, and we find all manner of ways to enjoy ourselves. In past years paintball, treasure hunts, summer BBQs, quiz evenings have all been enjoyed proving that we don't just dive. We have an advertised social calendar where everybody is welcome to join the fun. Traditionally the annual Dinner and Dance is the social highlight where awards and qualifications gained are presented throughout the evening.
Each year Bexley Sub Aqua Club partake in the local Danson Festival. By way of an inflatable pool it introduces our sport to the public and in particular the children who actually get to use proper diving apparatus for an scuba experience, never to be forgotten [see our gallery for photos of this and other events]. The evening is then further enjoyed by members with a communal barbie along with the odd bottle or two.

Learning to dive

New members are always welcome, as either a beginner or an experienced diver from any background. For more information please click here for more info on learning to dive with BSAC.

Equipment

Bexley Sub Aqua Club own all the necessary equipment for our students training poolwork. We are also the proud owners of a couple of diving boats, or to be more precise Rigid-hulled Inflatable Boats (RIBs). Both RIBs capable of carrying up to eight divers each and are powered by powerful outboard engines. These two dedicated boats are fully kitted out with necessary electrics and safety equipment. The equipment and boats are looked after by dedicated volunteers of the club.

An elected committee of members manage and organise the various aspects of our club, such as club accounts and membership, fund raising, training and dive organisation. Our current committee can be viewed on the committee page.
