ABOUT THE CLUB

At Bexley, we are first and foremost a dive club.  Our aims are to promote the sport of scuba diving through training and participation, with an emphasis on safety and enjoyment for all.  We train and dive under the internationally recognised standards of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC), but we welcome divers qualified from other agencies too.  So whether you are a complete beginner or have trained with another agency… join us!

BEXLEY 982 BRANCH HISTORY

In 2018 Bexley Sub-Aqua Club celebrated its 40th Anniversary!  Originally based at the old Lamorbey Swimming Baths, the club was formed as branch number 982 of the British Sub-Aqua Club on 20th February 1978.  Its founding members were Mr H Henderson (Chairman), Mr A Douglas (Secretary), Mr C Davidge (Treasurer) and Mr E Bourne (Diving Officer).  Some of the 22 original members are still actively diving with the club today!

But new members are always warmly welcomed.

SOCIAL

Bexley Sub-Aqua Club is not only a dive club, but also a social club.  We meet at 8pm every Tuesday at Sidcup Leisure Centre.  Those who aren’t training or attending lectures usually hang out in the comfy seats in the café area chatting and helping out pool side when needed.  Afterwards (from about 10pm) we adjourn to Ye Olde Black Horse public house in Sidcup where we talk about diving and generally have a laugh.  When we’re not diving, we find other ways to socialise including summer BBQs, Christmas Curry nights, bowling, paintball or even a quiz evening.

Traditionally the Club also holds an annual Dinner and Dance where awards and qualifications gained are presented throughout the evening.  Check out our Facebook page to see what else we get up to!

Whilst the diving activity/ service we provide is operated within the leisure centre, we are ia branch club operating under the requirements of the British Sub Aqua Club and are not affiliated or endorsed by the leisure centre in any way.
