What
is a Try Dive? In a nutshell, it's a way
of trying your hand at scuba diving by way of a quick introduction
and session in the pool. For most people a try dive is their first taste of diving, its a great
way of partaking in a unique experience that only us divers can experience.
The sensation of breathing underwater is one that will stay with you
for a long time.
Do I need to be able to swim?
For any water based activity it is highly recommended,
however we are able to offer a try dive to non-swimmers in the shallow end of the pool.
Do
I have to be fit and healthy?
As like any other physical activity diving can be strenuous and its
wise to look after yourself. Whilst we don't expect participants to
have the fitness of an olympic athelete, conditions such as blackouts,
diabetes, heart disease, or respiratory disorders may preclude you
from taking part. If at all unsure seek the opinion of your GP for
guidance.
What
happens during my session? You will be sized up and
given all the necessary scuba equipment.
After being shown the basics you will enter the water to further use
the kit in standing depth water only. As you gain understanding and
confidence you will progress to deeper water for the full experience.
You will normally expect the pre-dive introduction to last 20 minutes
with usually around 1 hour in the water. At all times you will accompanied
by an instructor.
What
do I need to bring along?
You will need your normal swimming costume and a t-shirt you don't
mind getting wet. This is to stop any chaffing of the equipment you
will wear.
What
if I don't like it?
No problem, you walk away knowing you have had a go. You are under
no pressure or commitment at all. We are a non-profit making organisation
and as such, there is no big sales pitch at the end of the day.
What
if I do like it?
Great, if you are 16 years or over and are able to declare yourself
fit to dive then you would be more than welcome to join our club.
What
does it cost?
For the privelege of almost two hours in the company of an instructor,
the cost for an adult is £25.00 and £15.00 for a child
(under 16).
How
do I book a try dive?
Send us an email via 'Contact Us' with
an idea of dates (that fall on Tuesdays), we'll then get back to you
to arrange a date - easy!
